Text Layout can add to and improve the meaning of your text. In school we have particular ways to arrange text for essays and short stories, but informative articles can be more creative with layout.

Some things to consider in text layout:

  • Define the structure of a text through variety in layout and print including titles, headings, and subheadings

  • Use print characteristics to communicate meaning (white space, layout, italics, bold, font size and style, icons)

  • Communicate the importance of information through layout and print characteristics

  • Use indentation or spacing to set off paragraphs
